Race #5 in the 2008 USAC MTB Michigan State
Championship XC Series,
took place on trails that got
an All Night Drenching, and bounced back to give us a
GREAT race! The tender loving care that Mike Liagre
and his Team Sandbag compatriots have lavished on the
trails here paid off handsomely in allowing the course to be
used for racing in spite of Mother Nature's Deluge.
The event sponsored by the
BICYCLE
& FITNESS BARN in Port
Huron did not pose any apparent problems for Christian
Tanguy (Wolverine / American Cycle & Fitness)
or Susan Stephens (Brodie Bikes) as
they Stormed their way across the river many times to win
the Elite Men's and Women's classes.
Lila
Lazarus (FOX 2 NEWS) did her First Ever Mountain Bike race with us
and came away smiling with a Silver Medal!!!
Points were earned in the 2008 USAC MTB State
Championship Series, which will help win someone in each
class a FREE
ENTRY to the 2008 ICEMAN!!!

Over 200 racers came out and braved the
potentially wet & almost surely muddy trails to race up to 60 Miles
in the quest for for double points towards the USAC MTB XC
Series State
Championship title and a FREE
ENTRY to the 2008 ICEMAN!!!
The forecast called for a 70% chance of rain for
the day, but Mother Nature smiled
on us, and after the rain stopped before morning, the skies
cleared up and even
turned to Sunshine! No rain fell on the racers, but
there was some mud...
Mike Simonson (Trek Midwest Factory
Team) and
Karey Collins (Team Giant-MPI) charged on to wins in
the
Elite Men's and Elite Women's classes.

Race #3 in Tailwind's MICHIGAN MTB
TIME TRIAL SERIES is now in the
history books. Mark Parmelee (Cycletherapy Racing)
and Chenoah Hendershot (SOBE /
CANNONDALE) pedaled past
all comers on their way to winning the Elite Men and Elite
Women categories! This challenging 14 mile trail
became even more of a test
of the racers skills when rain decided to move in for a
couple of short periods during the Sport and Beginner races.

OWASIPPE MTB TT,

Sunshine and Blue skies ruled the day, making for great
racing with Mark Parmelee (Cycletherapy Racing)
and Lisa Hartman (Sugar Cycles)
besting all comers in the Elite Men's and Elite Women's
fields. The course was Fast, Fun, and Scenic with over
1200 feet of climbing in the 10.6 mile loop!

Christian Tanguy (American Cycle &
Fitness/WSC) and Susan Schubel
(Dark Horse Racing) rode away with the wins in
the Elite Men's and Elite Women's Classes. The Bloomer
course was totally challenging even without the traditional
trips up and down the Sledding Hill, and the Switchbacks
proved to be a truly formidable section on each lap!

This
race on the Pontiac Lake Rec Area trails in Waterford,
Michigan
was
sponsored by CYCLETHERAPY,
3545 Elizabeth Lake Rd in Waterford.
It turned out to be a great day for a race, even
though it started out with SNOW
and REALLY BRISK
temperatures!!! The Sun came out to everyone's delight
about the time the final awards were being given out.
Although it would have been sincerely welcomed much earlier,
all was well as it was. An inspection of the trails
after the race showed them to be in TERRIFIC
condition! Pontiac Lake is a super venue for early
season activity.

the Series Awards, the ICEMAN Entries, a set of SportCrafters

we had a Series Ending Carrot Cake to cut up
and eat!
